The services provides support to long-term unemployed people, short-term unemployed people, dependent partners of unemployed people, lone parents, early school leavers, people in receipt of a disability payment, non-Irish nationals and individuals working in the home.
The services and support we offer include:
- advice and support on business set up and planning;
- Start Your Own Business Courses;
- on-going support and advice once you have started trading;
- computer training at basic and ECDL level;
- information and advice for all entrepreneurs.

Our Start Your Own Business courses
We run the following Start Your Own Business courses for people who want to explore the option of self-employment, whatever stage you may be at:
Considering Self-Employment: Exploring Options
If you are thinking about self-employment, this programme will give you an introduction to the concept of self-employment and will help you to:
- identify your own skills and interests and how you could use them in self-employment;
- explore the elements needed to set up and run your own business;
- build confidence;
- learn to identify business opportunities.
Pre-Enterprise Training Programme
If you are long-term unemployed and have a business idea this course will help you to develop that idea and bring it to the stage where you can set up your business.

Course run over a 22-week period, as a CE scheme with support from FAS; |

Structured training programme (group and individual mentor sessions) covering such topics as book-keeping, marketing, IT skills and management; |

You may be eligible to progress to the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (DSFA). |
Women into Business programme
This is a Start Your Own Business course specifically designed and tailored for women. At the end of the course participants will have learned the basics about becoming self-employed.

Training takes place one morning a week over 12 weeks and covers topics such as:
- being creative in finding a business idea
- what it means to become self-employed;
- marketing and market research, personal development and confidence building, business skills and planning, effective communications and dealing with your tax affairs.

Start Your Own Business course for non-Irish nationals
This course is designed specifically for non-Irish nationals who are interested in learning about the basics of getting started in business in Ireland.
The course covers communication skills, business practices in Ireland, pricing, marketing, finance and developing a business plan. Participants attend one workshop per week over 12 weeks
Signing onto the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance
You may be eligible to sign onto this Department of Social and Family Affairs measure which is designed to help people to move from unemployment to self-employment.
Mentoring and support for self-employed people
We offer the following ongoing supports to our clients after they have set up in business:

Help with preparing business plans and funding applications to agencies such as First Step, the County Enterprise Boards and local financial institutions. |

On-going support in areas such as Revenue Commissioners and VAT, development and maintenance of bookkeeping systems, promotional literature and marketing. |

Seminars and training courses in areas such as taxation, marketing, insurance, pc training, book-keeping and communication skills. |

This is a network that allows our clients to have regular meetings to offer support to each other and develop business leads.
